BELLEVILLE – If Illinois Republican conservatives are unable to get a candidate they can support onto the 2018 General Election ballot, they may have one other alternative to staying home and not voting next November: a Libertarian candidate.

So for those prudent voters that like to always have a Plan B, there's an opportunity to learn more about what the three Libertarian gubernatorial primary choices think about the issues at a candidate forum in Belleville next Saturday.

Hosted by the Metro East Libertarian Party, the debate forum will be held at Southwestern Illinois College's Liberal Arts Theater at 3 PM on January 13th. The debate will be moderated by Aaron Wright, Field Operations Division Director for the Libertarian Party of Illinois.

The event will be followed by a candidate meet-and-greet. Candidates will be available for individual interview at that time. The entire debate is open to the public and press, and attendance is encouraged.

Gubernatorial primary candidates expected include Kash Jackson of Antioch, Matthew C. Scaro of Chicago, and Jon Stewart of Deerfield.

The Libertarian Party of Illinois will vote on its governor and other state-wide candidates at the state convention in March in Bloomington. Tickets for the convention are currently available at lpillinois.org.
