CHICAGO – This week, a group of about 1000 marched in front of Federal buildings in downtown Chicago in protest of President Trump's decision to end the "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals" program established by the Obama Administration in 2012.

The Democrat "Resist" movement was on hand, as was the Chicago Teachers Union. Signs mocking President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions were plenty.

In Chicago, as reported in Illinois Review, Chicago Public School enrollment dropped by 8000 students this year, following a drop of 14,000 the previous year.  Some Chicago teachers see undocumented immigrants as way to fill that gap.

On the same day as the protest, Rahm Emanuel declared Chicago a "Trump-Free Zone." There has been little mention of the 45 shot and seven killed over the Labor Day weekend by elected officials or Chicago media. In addition, there have been 16 armed robberies in the Lakeview area, again with little media attention.

Many people are leaving Chicago because of the poor quality schools, high crime, lack of jobs, and high taxes. The city's property taxes, along with the 10.25% sales tax, increased the city's minimum wage, bag tax and the penny per ounce beverage tax are all hurting the Chicago's economy.

It seems most people want some type of legal immigration program to become law, yet little seems to be getting done. So many issues in our great city, with immigration being one of many.

I'm guessing the next anti-Trump protest will be next Wednesday, when the Cook County Board revisits the beverage tax.
