CHICAGO – Donald Trump is the pick for 30 percent of those planning to vote in Illinois' March 15th primary, a new poll commissioned by the Sun-Times shows, putting him way ahead of all others.

Following Trump are Sens. Ted Cruz at 15 percent and Marco Rubio at 13 percent.

Despite the vast majority of Illinois Republican leadership endorsing candidates such as John Kasich, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, the two most anti-GOP establishment candidates lead among GOP voters in Illinois.

Lynn Sweet writes:

After Trump and the senators from Texas and Florida, in Illinois it’s former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 7 percent; retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 6 percent; Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 3 percent; former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul at 2 percent.

Asked, “if the primary election for president was held today, for whom would you vote,” 11 percent were undecided.

The details of the poll are HERE.

  1. Yesterday cable TV showed a “bio” of Trump which in effect was a string of “interviews” and commentaries from incompetent ANALysts who kept harping on how Trump likes to have yes-men around him, that he is concerned with making money, etc.
    I laughed and laughed!
These same hopeless dolts said nothing about the yes-men who surrounded other presidents especially the current Muslim-in-Chief, never referred to other billionaires (richer than Trump) like Gates, Soros and Buffet but just tried to make him seem greedy and egotistic.
They harangued listeners about how Trump’s years at a military school…something that Clinton and Obama never did (Clinton did even know with what hand to salute the military that protected him).
It’s always better to be lead by aggressive individuals rather than the usual run-of-the-mill eunuchs in government or celibates in the churches.
Presidents should be qualified for office ONLY if they served a minimum of two years active duty. Who wants a sociologist, journalist or theologian to lead the greatest nation the world has ever known?

  2. Ah, thanks.
This is where everybody has assumed Trump would be weak – in the organization for the delegate battle.
We’ll soon find out whether he’s as week on that as projected. It would certainly make it easier if he turns out to have not even done the work to get on a lot of ballots.

  3. I agree with this.
I am reading – and hearing first hand – that he is getting MUCH support from trades unions.
Not so much the communist-in-nature public sector unions mind you – those idiots are a lost cause.
    Reagan democrats redux.

  4. The problem is reaching those voters. Many have dumped their landlines which provide the link with voting history. Then there are ornery sob’s like me who vote in every primary and still have a landline but installed a call blocker to keep from being bothered by the politicians and pollsters.
