As of this afternoon, the above image appears on TedCruz.org – Ted Cruz, who is running second to businessman Donald Trump in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, announced former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina as his VP running mate.
"Just like Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina is a fighter," the site says. "She fought her way to the top: from a secretary, to the first female CEO of a Fortune 50 company, to a 2016 Republican vice presidential candidate."
Fiorina ran as the only woman among 17 GOP presidential candidates in 2016, dropping out in February.
Cruz is struggling to keep Trump from obtaining the 1237 delegates needed to officially win the party's nomination at the Republican National Convention.
"Carly is now a leader in the conservative movement standing alongside all Americans who refuse to settle for the way things are and a status quo that no longer works for them," the site says. "She believes we must end crony capitalism by fighting the policies that allow it to flourish. She believes we must fix our festering problems by holding our bloated, inept government bureaucracy accountable. And she believes Republicans must stand for conservative principles that lift people up and recognize all Americans have the right to fulfill their God-given potential."
