Chicago Public School students invade Capitol, demand tax hike

SPRINGFIELD – Thousands of Chicago Public School kids were hauled to Springfield on buses Thursday to demand lawmakers hike taxes to fund their schools. One lawmaker asked some interesting questions:

  1. WELL, WELL. CPS “somehow” found the money to bus these kids to Springfield, even though the Chicago school system claims poverty?
    Yeah, they say WE should pay more taxes to support an openly incompetent and corrupt school system.
    Maybe THEY will think differently when THEY have to pay the taxes…
    …unless they enter the public welfare system or flee this state to avoid paying Illinois’ already high taxes.

  2. Evidently your children are not affected by these budget cuts so naturally you feel the way you do. My children are affected by the cuts and yes I kept my kids out of school to go to Springfield with me. By your statement you couldn’t possibly be a teacher from any of the Ares that has been affected by the cuts .what would you do sit around and except the whatever they give you? Well we’re not sitting around anymore and we did what was in the best iinterest of our children’s education.
