CHICAGO – Chance the Rapper is a popular Chicago-based Grammy Award winner, and he's meeting Wednesday with Governor Rauner to discuss education funding, he Tweeted Monday. Over 50,000 "liked" Chance's message and over 8,000 re-Tweeted it.

The governor answered back:

Chance the Rapper has some interesting ideas to hear about, such as these from his hit "Smoke Again" – lyrics found via Google and YouTube.

Chance is unique in that he has thus far refused to sign with a record label, and livestreams much of his work. He was featured on Yahoo! Finance and they explained how he makes his money:

By bypassing any complicated relationship with a record label, Chance said he has bolstered his relationship with consumers. The rapper’s independence has made Chance’s fans that much more loyal, and they often support him through his merchandise shop — his main source of revenue.

Chance’s signature “3” New Era Cap retails for $45 each and his $50 “No Problem” and “Coloring Book” hoodies have become ubiquitous among teens and adults alike.

In addition to his paraphernalia, Chance also makes money from concert tickets, of course. He has nearly 40 shows scheduled for his spring tour starting in April.

So Chance the Rapper's an entrepeneur and a powerful force in Chicago's black community – two aspects that must be very appealing to Illinois' investor/billionaire/Governor.

Still – the Governor didn't have time or interest in visiting with Donald Trump at the White House?
