Ruining someone's name is very easy. So is calling them a "racist." Take the case of Ty Cobb, one of the greatest baseball players ever. Cobb is known as a racist and a dirty ballplayer. Is it true? Charles Leerhsen, author of "Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty" sets the record straight.
Here’s an article about a Crystal Lake High School Board candidate which the teachers’ union trashed:

He did not win, but is now something of a folk hero.
The local teachers’ union in Crystal Lake tagged Scott Vetter, a tax cutting candidate for the High School Board with being a racist.
Here’s my reply:

The smear campaign worked, but Vetter is now something of a folk hero.
Quotes fro H.L. Mencken, who left this world in 1956:
“Democracy is the pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.”
“Giving every man a vote has no more made men wise than Christianity has made them good.”
Finally: “Democracy is the art and science of running the circus from inside the monkey cage.”
Does these quotes explain the results of this (and many other) local elections?
