Obama Center’s Unpaid Black Contractors: A Monument to Progressive Failure

By Mark Weyermuller –

Protesting is nothing new. I grew up in the 1960's watching anti-war demonstrations on TV. If you ever go downtown, you are likely the find a march, demonstration or protest every day of the week.

While Barack Obama was president protests existed, so they're nothing new with President Trump.

Last Friday, the Northwest Side GOP held a fundraiser called the "WE-BELLION BASH" which featured former congressman and current talk radio host Joe Walsh. He appears in Chicago on WIND 560-AM 5pm-7pm daily along with being syndicated in some national markets.

Walsh gave an ambitious keynote address about conservatives back taking back Illinois which was extreme well received. Attendees feasted on pork sliders, tomato kabobs,  and deep fried crab balls. The Walsh Freedom group marched in Northwest Side Saint Patrick's Day Parade earlier this year with about 150 people. The theme was "Thank You Blue" honoring and supporting police officers.

Friday night as guests were arriving about 50 protests stood outside the Reoublican headquarters with a general theme of "resist."  I asked as I mingled  with the group , "resist what?" I did not really get an answer. They left after about 90 minutes without much fanfare.

A couple hundred NW side Republicans attended the event held a block away from the headquarters at "The Garage" a local tavern.  Local Republican committeeman Matt Podgorski is heading up the group that now has almost 600 members on their Facebook page.

Their next event is June 14, 2017 at the Revel Bar(6::00pm) at 6169 North Northwest Highway in Chicago. It's titled: Making America Great Again, Flag Day and Trump's Birthday.  This group is new with a large presence developing in Chicago. more information at www.NWSGOP.com.
