CHICAGO – Altogether, 25 Illinois schools earned the 2017 National Blue Ribbon Awards, but Governor Rauner chose to acknowledge only the 16 government-funded schools on his Facebook entry:
Illinois Review will publish the governor's office response as soon as we hear back as to why he chose to ignore non-public schools that will be honored by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos next month in Washington D.C.
The Secretary of Education's website showed that 292 public schools and 50 non-public schools nationwide received the recognition:

So the private schools want public officials to like do their tooting for them? Perfect example of private to a degree but still dependent on the public teat…. which is it?
The governor should be proud of all the schools that were recognized – those that are not taxpayer funded are family funded and those families also fund the taxpayer schools.
He snubbed those families. It’s outrageous.
Oh brother ????
So the taxpayers can pay for the students education and the
Abortion of their baby brother or sister!
WOW! This past six weeks Rauner certainly has shown us how to win friends and influence people!
He’s managed to aggravate the pro-life groups, down-state public schools, Catholics, and now the private schools.
And ALL are taxpayers and voters.
