WASHINGTON DC – Thursday morning, Illinois Congressman Randy Hultgren (IL-14) and his wife Christy welcomed President Trump to the annual Prayer Breakfast in D.C. Rep. Hultgren and Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL), co-chairs of the NPB, have co-chaired the House prayer breakfast every Thursday in the Capitol for the past year.

About the weekly prayer meetings, Hultgren told the breakfast attendees, "It’s a private meeting. We eat. We sing. We share praises and prayer needs. Then one of our members shares their story. And we pray.

"We walk into the room as Republicans and Democrats, people from different generations, regions and backgrounds. We do come in with our differences, with our strongly held views. But we always walk out with a little more understanding – more together, more unified," he said.

"We’re certainly all imperfect. But we’re on a journey together toward civility, toward reconciliation, toward that spirit of love that Jesus shows us,'' Hultgren said. "That’s what prayer does. In my experience, a prayer is not just asking God for stuff. It’s about a relationship with Him. And real relationships are about listening – really listening – and then trying to live out what we hear. Prayer is the language of love."

Congressman Hultgren introduced the President for his remarks at the 1:13 mark:
