DePaul University professor David Lay Williams apparently found “a Jesus intent on reducing the corrosive effects of wealth, greed, and inequality and condemning those with great fortunes as unworthy inhabitants for the kingdom of God.”
The professor based his lecture on Pope Francis' claim that "inequality is the root of all social evil."
DePaul's Faculty Scholarship Support Center defended Williams' lecture, telling Campus Reformthat its purpose is to "support, encourage, and disseminate faculty in their research projects."

With all due respect I am really coming to the conclusion that the Bible is just another prop in the Catholic Church and nothing more.
Luke 18:25
How does his opinion classify as a “research project?”
And as to Pope Francis; Doesn’t he live in a private residence in a private city within Rome, stocked with half the art treasures in Europe?
But what do I know? I’m a Lutheran.
I knew I sensed a fellow Lutheran.
Socialists are the most greedy and envious people in the world. The source of all poverty, ignorance and violence is socialism. De Paul is well known for its nitwit radicals who con ignorant young people.
A prominent conservative Chicago attorney – who many of us know and who is not Catholic – was recruited by a top DePaul honcho to sit on the DePaul University Board of Directors.
The DePaul person, knowing the lawyer wasn’t Catholic, told him “we’re really not rigidly, really Catholic anymore.”
The conservative lawyer told him that he didn’t want to be associated with an institution that was not truthful about its mission and he declined the offer to sit on the DePaul University Board of Directors.
This is what he told me over lunch.
Another Left wing religious nutter. Nothing new!
Then what’s the point of maintaining fealty to the Roman Catholic church – much less contributing to them?
Clint, I guess we can ask the same question about “fealty” to the Illinois Republican Party when it’s rotting “leadership” demands it of us.
Observer – you’ll get no argument from me on that score. I entirely agree with you
As a former Catholic, I’ll just say, Catholicism needs to go away. This Pope is a total disgrace and the Church has been a disgrace since John Paul II.
This is a political science professor not a theology or scripture professor and his lecture was making a political point not at all a religious point. He in no way expresses the doctrine of any church including the catholic church. The purpose of any university is to explore ideas.
The ignorance and religious bile on this site is becoming overwhelming.
