One of the Pro-life Action League’s most supported events of the year is the  “Peace in the Womb” Christmas caroling day. The idea is simple: They bring the hope and joy of Christmas to one of the world’s darkest places—the abortion clinic—in hopes that the familiar sounds of Christmas carols will save a life. And, in fact, lives have been saved by the peaceful, prayerful witness when women heard our songs from inside the abortion facility and chose life for their children.

This year's "Peace in the Womb" caroling events took place last Saturday in 66 cities in 28 states. This was the fourteenth year that the Pro-Life Action League held Christmas caroling outside of abortion clinics.  The group sings with an empty manger on display as a symbol of babies that weren't born due to abortion. There was very little main stream media coverage of this important event.

For this group, the singing began at 9:00 a.m. at Family Planning Associates at 659 West Washington Street in Chicago's West Loop. According to their website, this clinic performs late term abortions, surgical abortions, and they offer the abortion pill.

The abortion clinic has “escorts” standing outside to assist expectant mothers inside the clinics to avoid any communication with any pro-life advocates that might be outside. They say these people wearing pink vests are volunteers but many appear to be paid security people. The moms often have second thoughts as they enter as they realize that the life of their child will soon be terminated.  It’s is very sad and disturbing for everybody involved.

The group of pro lifers sang at several locations, including Planned Parenthood at 1209 North LaSalle Street. Later they sang at another location of Family Planning Associates at 4341 North Milwaukee Avenue – directly next door to Illinois Congressman Mike Quigley’s office. This facility also has apartments directly above it.

The Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade was a landmark legal decision issued on January 22, 1973, in which the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Texas statute banning abortion, effectively legalizing the procedure across the United States. It is estimated that 60 million babies have been killed in the United States since this court decision legalizing abortion.

As medical technology improves, there is much more discussion of when life begins. Pro-lifers believe it begins at conception. Others believe it is when a heartbeat can be detected. Now with MRIs, a heartbeat can be detected as early as six weeks in a pregnancy. It’s hard to argue that a “person” with a heartbeat is not alive.

In Ohio, the legislature is in deep discussions about the “heartbeat law” which would outlaw abortions when a heartbeat is detected.

The annual Chicago March for Life is Sunday January 13, 2019 from 2-4pm at the Federal Plaza in downtown Chicago. Please come out and march.  Last year, several thousand people listened to speakers then marched about mile.

The National March for Life takes place on January 18, 2019, in Washington, D.C. on the National Mall.
