Illinois’ “Conservative Caucus” core files in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD – After filing for the March 2020 GOP primary Monday morning, conservative state representatives Mike Murphy, Allen Skillicorn, Darren Bailey and Brad Halbrook enjoyed breakfast together with first-time GOP House candidate Cory Musgrave.

Musgrave is filing to succeed Darren Bailey in the 109th 110th House District as Bailey runs to succeed Senator Dale Righter in the 55th Senate District, who announced earlier this year he will not be seeking re-election. 

The group – which includes others such as State Rep. Chris Miller -  is the core of Illinois' current so-called "Conservative Caucus." Most of them coming from an area of the state that favors Donald Trump, the group has hopes of growing more members in the years ahead.

Halbrook has been leading the effort to oust Cook County and Chicago from Illinois, forming a 51st state down the political road.
