ORLAND PARK – Orland Park is a southwest suburb of Cook County – thus, the requirements Governor JB Pritzker has set up for his Restore Illinois re-opening plan thrust the village into the same health region as Chicago – the deadliest COVID area in the state.

That determination could destroy Orland Park's economy – as it could any of the towns and villages within the Chicago region – as Pritzker's plan would keep small businesses and many services closed and unavailable to the public.

Orland Park's Mayor Keith Pekau released a video clearly laying out why Orland Park should be allowed to open businesses and restore its ability to host a healthy economic environment. Pekau says in the video that 100% of Orland Park's COVID death have been in long term healthcare facilities – pushing for seniors and immuno-compromised persons to be protected while allowing the general population to return to its normal activities, with appropriate precautions.
