Yesterday, over 300 parents and residents gathered in Naperville, Illinois to demand that students be allowed in school for “in classroom learning”  five days a week. They marched several blocks holding signs and chanting “five days a week.”  The marchers met at a plaza in the downtown area to hear from a long list of speakers, including school board candidates.

The speakers included Shannon Adcock, Kevin Coyne, Bill Eagan, Adam Russo, Rajesh Narayan, Paul Leong, and Brent Lightfoot. The event was lead by a student playing God Bless America on a trumpet.

Special guest speakers at the rally included 560AM WIND talk show host Amy Jacobson, former Chicago Public School head Paul Vallas, and GOP gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey. The general feeling of the crowd was it is completely safe to have kids back in the the classroom everyday.  Many feel we should have never shut down and that having kids doing online learning is more unsafe than sending them to school.

After the Naperville rally, I headed to the corner of Golf & Meacham Roads in Schaumburg, Illinois for another “peaceful protest.” This group has been meeting on this corner every Sunday from noon till 3:00 p.m for the past six months. Today they had about 40 people standing on this corner for three hours.  They have a Pro-America theme supporting re-opening Illinois.

On Sunday, March 27, 2021 from noon to 3:00 PM.  They plan to have a large rally, expecting over 500 people.

One sign at this protest read, ”361 days to flatten the curve.”  The people here feel safe and want to reopen Illinois.
