CHAMPAIGN – The primary between incumbent GOP US Congress members Rodney Davis (IL-13) and Mary Miller (IL-15) is playing out as if Illinois Democrats that redistricted the two together scripted it themselves – ugly headlines and nasty innuendoes marking the race.

Davis' campaign is especially nasty and their headlines cast dispersions upon Congresswoman Miller consistently:

Evidently, the Grand Ol' Party feud, as it intensifies, is making Davis endorsers rethink their support. Before Monday, here's what the Davis website said:

Monday, that page is either being redone or it was removed. Here's what the page says now, and there's no indication of endorsers anywhere …

Could be just a malfunction. We'll watch and report on these developments …

  1. That word “carpetbagger” is overused and Davis is talking foolishly. Traditionally the word has meant people with no connection to an area, particularly applying to people from entirely different parts of the country. Using it on a candidate who is a sitting member of congress who currently represents a district that has tons of land which will be in the new district she is currently seeking, using it during a redistricting year when it’s not like the new district has existed historically for one to “carpetbag” into (Miller didn’t move — the district lines did), using it when she’s very close to the boundary, and using it when you know the Democrats plotted to force her to run against another Republican is misusing the word. In my opinion, Davis is being far too liberal with the word. Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have endorsed Mary Miller by the way, so that is something for primary voters to consider. Meanwhile, did you know that Rodney Davis rescinded his own endorsement of Trump approximately one month before the 2016 general election?
