US Supreme Court overturns Roe vs Wade

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Supreme Court issued the following opinion this morning on the Dobbs case:

Held: The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.

The Court's 6 to 3 opinion is HERE

The Democrat-controlled Illinois General Assembly voted in 2019 to preserve the right to an abortion in Illinois in the case of such a decision. Gov. JB Pritzker signed it into law.

Planned Parenthood clinics and other independent abortion facilities are preparing for an influx of expectant mothers from other states to come to Illinois for abortions. Illinois is one of the nation's least restrictive states – currently, the only abortion restriction is against ending the life of a viable unborn baby unless a mother's health or life is endangered.
