On Monday night, former President Donald Trump – the Republican nominee for President, made an emotional appearance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, wearing a bandage over his right ear after a bullet pierced through his skin during an assassination attempt on Saturday during a rally in Pennsylvania that killed one man and critically injured two others.

Trump’s entrance, captured live on the jumbotron as Lee Greenwood sang “God Bless the U.S.A.,” marked his first public appearance since Saturday’s tragic event, where he was rushed off the stage after several shots were fired in his direction by an assassin. Sadly, firefighter Corey Comperatore was killed protecting his family as his last words were, “Get down.” Two other rally attendees remain in the hospital with critical injuries.

Trump was struck in the right ear as Secret Service agents rushed the stage and used their own bodies as shields to protect the injured former president. As he stood up, blood was seen coming down the right side of his face. But to project calm during chaos, the former president began pumping his fist telling the audience to “fight, fight fight” as he stood underneath the American flag – in a visual that will live on as one of the most iconic images in our nation’s history.

The injured former president was then loaded into his bulletproof SUV and his gigantic motorcade was seen speeding down the road to take him to an area hospital so he could be treated by emergency room physicians as police vehicles blocked the entrance to the hospital.

His vice presidential pick JD Vance is scheduled to address the convention on Wednesday and Trump is scheduled to speak on Thursday where he is expected to call for unity.
