On Saturday, Illinois Review editor-in-chief Mark Vargas is moderating a panel discussion titled, ‘What Color is a Conservative’ as part of the Black Conservative Summit taking place this weekend in Tinley Park.

The summit is hosted by The Freedom’s Journal Institute (FJI) – an Illinois-based nonprofit organization designed to “advance the Kingdom of God through socio-political, education and engagement.” The 3-day conference, which begins on Friday and ends on Sunday, includes breakout sessions throughout the day and keynote speakers in the evening. On Saturday evening, U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-NC) will headline the dinner program after a private VIP meet-and-greet, which will include special guest and Chicago Cubs co-owner Todd Ricketts.

The event, which takes place at Insight Church in Tinley Park, is expected to draw hundreds of attendees from across the country. The agenda, which includes the tagline, “Black America at a Crossroads: Cultural Marxism vs. A Biblical Worldview,” is timely, just months before a historic presidential election in November.
