“She is not as smart as Biden.” This was said during President Donald Trump’s appearance this week in reference to Kamala Harris at the Economic Club of Chicago forum at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Chicago. The event was sponsored by Bloomberg Business with the interview conducted by their top editor John Micklethwait.

The breakfast was attended by about 700 people along with 50 members of the media. The one hour forum opened with the moderator announcing that both candidates were invited to speak to this group with only President Trump accepting. They said that Kamala Harris declined the invitation.

Back in July, President Trump attended another forum in Chicago with the Association of Black Journalists. He was well received at that event as reported by Illinois Review.

During the event, President Trump had a number of memorable lines that received applause from the audience including, “We have a corrupt press.” At another point during the interview, he said, “This green new scam is bad.”

The moderator also started talking about tariffs, and President Trump explained in depth how certain tariffs will help the economy and promote American made goods.

Towards the end, President Trump said as Republicans, we are a nation of common sense. He said, “We need borders, we need fair elections, we don’t want men playing in women’s sports, we don’t want transgender operations without parental consent, there are so many things, 99.99 percent is common sense.” And he received a big applause for this statement.

All in all, the audience appreciated his answers to the questions and Trump did receive a standing ovation at the end.

The election is just 20 days away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 with early voting taking place now.
