On Tuesday, just six weeks after his inauguration, President Donald Trump addressed a joint session of Congress to declare, “America is back” – as he shared his vision for making America great, safe and prosperous again.

“Six weeks ago, I stood beneath the dome of this Capitol and proclaimed the dawn of the golden Age of America. From that moment on, it has been nothing but swift and unrelenting action to usher in the greatest and most successful era in the history of our country.”

The President continued, “we have accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations accomplished in four years or eight years. And we are just getting started.”

The Democrats in the chamber, whose progressive policies remain wildly unpopular with the general electorate – presented themselves to the American people on national television as disrespectful and out-of-touch with everyday Americans.

U.S. Rep. Al Green, a 77-year old Democrat from Texas was forcibly removed from the chamber by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) after he stood up from his seat and repeatedly heckled and interrupted the President during his speech. Green, who held his cane in the air as he shouted, has been pushing to impeach Trump since his first term in office.

After the speech, Johnson called his actions “absolutely shameful” and suggested that he may be “censured” for his behavior.

“He should be censured. It’s a spectacle that was not necessary. He’s made history in a terrible way, and I hope he enjoys it. If they want to make a 77-year-old heckling Congressman the face of their resistance, if that’s the Democrat party, so be it. But we will not tolerate it on the House floor.”

The President’s nearly 2-hour speech – the longest State of the Union address in history, listed his early accomplishments – and there were many – honored everyday heroes, and highlighted his vision to save our country after four years of failed policies under the Biden administration.

“Within hours of taking the oath of office, I declared a national emergency on our southern border, and I deployed the U.S. military and border patrol to repel the invasion of our country. And what a job they’ve done. As a result, illegal border crossings last month were by far the lowest ever recorded ever.”

Trump also delivered an effective dig at the Democrats in the chamber as millions of Americans tuned in at home, who sat silent the entire evening – even after the President highlighted key achievements in securing our borders, commenting,

“And these people sitting right here will not clap, will not stand, and certainly will not cheer for these astronomical achievements. They won’t do it no matter what. Sad and it just shouldn’t be this way. So Democrats sitting before me, for just this one night, why not join us in celebrating so many incredible wins for America? For the good of our nation? Let’s work together and let’s truly make America great again.”

The President also used the address to reiterate his commitment in ending DEI policies, critical race theories, government censorship, the weaponization of government, allowing boys to play in girls sports – and that it is the “official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female.”

.@POTUS: "I also signed an Executive Order to ban men from playing in women's sports.

Trump also talked about his commitment to bring peace in Europe and ending the war in Ukraine.

“I’m also working tirelessly to end the savage conflict in Ukraine. Millions of Ukrainians and Russians have been needlessly killed or wounded in this horrific and brutal conflict with no end in sight.”

The President also talked about a letter he had just received a few hours before his speech.

“Earlier today, I received an important letter from President Zelensky of Ukraine. The letter reads, “Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer.”

He then closed his speech with the words made famous after he survived an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania,

“Every single day. We will stand up and we will fight, fight, fight for the country our citizens believe in and for the country people deserve. My fellow Americans, get ready. for an incredible future, because the golden age of America has only just begun. It will be like nothing that has ever. been seen before.”

The President has no public events scheduled for Wednesday, according to The White House.
