Donald Trump Jr., the eldest child of President Donald J. Trump will be making several stops in Illinois next month as part of a national book tour to promote Letters To Trump – a 319-page book that captures the private correspondence between President Trump and some of the biggest names in history over the last 40 years.
The book is published by Winning Team Publishing, where Donald Trump Jr. is a co-founder. The book, which hit number 1 on Amazon’s bestseller list is a fascinating collection of letters from Oprah Winfrey, Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, now-King Charles, John F. Kennedy, Jr., Sen. Ted Kennedy, Princess Diana and North Korean President Kim Jong Un.
The book also includes a letter that Donald Trump sent to former IL Gov. Rod Blagojevich shortly after he was fired on Celebrity Apprentice in 2010.
But as preparations are underway for the VIP visit, sources can confirm to Illinois Review that local IL GOP leader, radio host and state central committee member Jeanne Ives, who announced in May that she was backing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign for president – recently sent emissaries to try and secure special “VIP” treatment during the high profile visit, including a request for an interview with Trump Jr. on her Sunday evening radio show and a request to speak on stage during one of the stops on the book tour – but the requests were all denied.
In the Trump world, loyalty means everything – and throwing one’s support behind DeSantis, who trails President Trump by over 40 points, is a non-starter.
In April, President Trump hosted a small gathering of about 60 attendees, all handpicked by the former president to attend a private Letters To Trump book launch party which was hosted in the White and Gold Room of his Palm Beach estate, Mar-a-Lago.
The mega-exclusive event was held on a day when Mar-a-Lago is closed – but the luxurious estate remained open for the former president and his special guests.
Former Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who’s prison sentence was commuted by President Trump on February 18, 2020, made a surprise appearance after the former president extended a special invite to his former Celebrity Apprentice contestant.
Special guests of the former president also included former Arizona governor candidate Kari Lake, US Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-TX, US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA, Ambassador Richard Grenell and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
An hour before the event, several of the guests gave media interviews, including Blagojevich, in designated areas in the main residence at Mar-a-Lago, as the former President chatted with several guests, including with Trump family friend and IR publisher Scott Kaspar and IR editor-in-chief Mark Vargas, in the living room of his lavish estate.
