By JD Diganvker -

I am a proud immigrant. I followed the legal process and migrated to the United States from India in 1995 to pursue my American dream.  At the time, I didn’t have any money – only dreams of a better life for my family and me.

On February 4, 2003 that dream was realized when I became a U.S. citizen. The process wasn’t easy, and it took a lot of time – but it was worth it.

The American dream is available to everyone. I am living proof. But it doesn’t come without hardship and sacrifice. And my story is no different. Like many of you, I have experienced triumph and tragedy.

In 1999, my wife and I lost our two young daughters and my father-in-law during a tragic house fire while he babysat our kids. It was heartbreaking. And the pain of that day has never gone away.

And throughout the years I’ve started businesses and I’ve lost businesses. I’ve made money and I’ve lost money.  And when my businesses struggled because of a difficult economy, I decided to drive for Uber to support my family. And during that journey, I have logged over 10,000 rides; meeting thousands of wonderful, hard working people who shared similar life experiences.

This election on November 6th is so important. A vote for my opponent is a vote for Nancy Pelosi, and it will erase all of the progress we’ve made over the last two years.

Under President Trump and a Republican Congress, African American unemployment is the lowest in history.

Under President Trump and a Republican Congress, Hispanic unemployment is the lowest in history.

Under President Trump and a Republican Congress, female unemployment is the lowest in 60 years.

Under President Trump and a Republican Congress, hard working, middle-class Americans can enjoy the benefits of tax cuts.

Under President Trump and a Republican Congress, jobs are coming back to America.

And at a time when our politics have become so divisive, I want to bring people together and celebrate our similarities, rather than fight about our differences.

I am a small businessman; I am not a career politician. I believe we need more regular, everyday people like you and me in Washington.

Let’s work together, and let’s win together.

JD Diganvker is a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois District 8.
