ST LOUIS – After meeting privately with businessman Donald Trump Friday in St. Louis, conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly announced her endorsement of Trump.

The 91-year-old founder of Eagle Forum, which successfully stopped the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s, said that Trump promised her he would support the Republican National Committee platform. After speaking of him highly in the past, Schlafly joined former Governor Sarah Palin, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Dr. Ben Carson with her support.

“I asked Donald Trump to support the Republican platform because this is the best and most conservative platform we’ve ever had. I gave him one of my copies of the 2012 platform. He endorses it and I believe he will stand by it. I am confident that Donald Trump will stand up against bad trade deals, reform bad immigration policies, and appoint constitutionalist judges like Antonin Scalia.

"We have been stuck with the losers chosen by the Republican establishment for so long, and it's time for a change.  Now we have a guy who is going to lead us to victory!"

Schlafly introduced Trump at a rally in St. Louis – her hometown – after which he headed to Chicago for a rally at the University of Illinois-Chicago campus Friday afternoon.

Missouri and Illinois will hold their GOP primaries March 15th.
