Americans continue to strongly support the celebration of Christmas in public schools, places that most already believe lack enough religion.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 76% of American Adults believe Christmas should be celebrated in public schools. Just 15% disagree.

These findings are unchanged from surveys for the past two years.

Also little changed from previous surveys is the 54% of Americans who say there’s not enough religion in the public schools. Just 12% say there’s too much religion in public schools, while 27% say the level of religion in schools is about right.

Among adults with school-age children at home, 82% favor celebrating Christmas in public schools, and 61% believe there should be more religion in those schools.

Support for more religion in school appears to mostly concern Christianity. In March, 96% of Americans felt Christmas should be observed in schools, while 75% said the same of Easter. There was significantly less support for observing the major Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist holidays in schools.

  1. Well don’t expect any help from the GOP on this. My experience with them over the last 20+ years is that they are the most supine and gutless political organization…. I think ever. They ave compromised away our once great Republic and healthy culture to the cultural Marxists so they could be popular with the Beltway media glitterati. I think Dante called this Pride. They want to look good on TV and in the papers so they have just let everything get frittered away at the margins over the last 40+ years and now we all get to live in Babylon.
Expect Christmas to be banned completely in 10 years. The GOP would give that away too as long as they could get some more H1B1 visa for their friends in Silicon Valley and some green cards and work permits so their ag bus friends can completely wipe out the family farm. They might try to hold out for another TA trade deal too. Maybe this time they’ll sneak SAFTA or AFTA or SEAFTA through the Congress at 2am on some night by suspending the rules so our formerly middle class Americans with good jobs can now compete with even harder with the developing world while their rich plutocratic friends increase their dividend streams.
Please, just dissolve this brain-dead party. Hasn’t it done enough damage to the American people already?

  2. The GOP establishment has bought into the New World Order…. they couldn’t care any less what we want. I am sick to death of the federal govt’s concern for non-citizens over citizens
