CHARLESTON – New York Democrats sided with Donald Trump in their reaction to U.S. Senator Ted Cruz' criticism of "New York Values" at the GOP Presidential debate Thursday night. Trump said Cruz had insulted New Yorkers that had survived the World Trade Center attack on 9-11, and that he owed New Yorkers an apology.

Cruz said he "apologized" for how liberal politics have negatively affected various groups of New Yorkers, saying, "Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Andrew Cuomo and Bill de Blasio have all demanded an apology, and I'm happy to apologize," he told reporters. "I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by the liberal politicians in that state."

"I believe 2016 is going to be an election like 1980, and help is on the way…" Cruz said.

  1. Cruz got it right and EVERYONE knows it. The overall values are quite different. Look at any election map and see how people voted in different areas/counties/cities in the U.S. And yes, there is a ‘values’ difference between a Romney (and other Republican candidates) and an Obama (and other Democratic candidates).
This does not mean all New Yorkers are bad people because they disagree with me. But, again, there is a tremendous difference in their political and social views/values.
Having said that Trump did “Trump” him on the debate floor. If Cruz had responded in the manner I just did in my opening sentence he could have sent Trump packing. But he didn’t and his apology does not help him with anyone- either those who support him or those who are opposed to him.
