Opinion: Illinois Democrats Pass Bill Targeting ICE, but the Supremacy Clause Makes It Unconstitutional

By Mark Weyermuller -

Donald Trump was the declared the winner of the debate held last night. That was the consensus of a somewhat partisan crowd at a debate watch party held at America's Bar in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.   The event was sponsored by WIND 560-AM featuring a live radio broadcast with former congressman Joe Walsh.

The venue was wonderful with about 35 televisions. While the crowd here heavily favored Trump  many felt is was draw, perhaps Trump winning on points using a boxing analogy. Many expected Hillary Clinton to pass out during the 90 minute show yet she seemed very composed despite reports and rumors of possible serious health problems. She did blink an unusual amount in the first three minutes but could be attributed to make up or the lighting.

Trump made some great points  which brought big applause especially with thoughts on trade along with support of police.  A clear difference was Trump's support of "law and order" speaking of the "stop and frisk" which worked well in New York. Clinton wants to retrain policeman to lower crime. Clinton talked of raising taxes which brought  boos in the room. Trump scored big points talking about the crime in Chicago including a large murder rate.

The crowd here did not like Lester Holt who acted as moderator. There were many references here to Candy Crowley who moderated the Obama/Romney debate four years ago. There appeared to be more questions directed at Trump,  including  the birther issue, his income tax, and a remark about Clinton's  appearance.  There seemed to be few questions about the 30,000 lost or deleted emails, Benghazi, or the Clinton Foundation.  All in all both had good and bad moments.

Tomorrow Donald Trump will be at the Bolingbrook Country Club for a fundraising lunch. Tickets  start at $1000 and I was told today (unconfirmed) that it will raise over $2 million dollars. They expect protesters so watch for my follow up report.

There will be two more presidential debates, the next being a townhall format on Sunday, October 9. Reminder there are just 41 days till the election held on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Don't forget to vote.
