CHICAGO – While as a whole Illinois' prolife movement remained silent when a new communications staffer for Governor Rauner was under attack from Democrats and pro-abortion Leftists, Brittany Clingen Carl finally found outspoken support from Illinois Family Institute's Laurie Higgins.

Chicago media – hysterical over sudden staff changes at the governor's office – searched the internet for anything that would embarrass the governor's office about those changes. They believed they hit a jackpot when they found Carl's pro-life comments on a blog she wrote for prior to her taking the job with Governor Rauner. The scandalous comments were found on a conservative blog called "Reclaiming Feminism."

The Sun-Times breathlessly reported Carl's defense of the unborn:

“Certainly nothing matches the atrocity of the Holocaust, but it’s undeniable that abortion is being used to rid the world of disabled and other ‘unwanted’ persons — a fact the Left and their pro-abortion allies don’t want discussed,” Carl wrote.

Carl also wrote about parents aborting babies diagnosed with Down syndrome: “Attempting to rid the world of people with Down syndrome simply because they are different constitutes the dangerous and morally reprehensible practice of eugenics not entirely unlike what was practiced in . . . Nazi Germany.”

Abortion promoters "Personal PAC" pulled out the knives and did their best to slice up Governor Rauner, his wife, and his new staff member.

Hours and days went by and there was little, if any, public defense of Carl from normally vocal prolifers. (UPDATE: Illinois Right to Life has since pointed out to IR published quotes supporting Carl.)

Until Illinois Family Institute's prolific contributor Laurie Higgins stepped up, tying all the complaints and criticism together before standing in Carl's defense:

Brittany Carl is exactly the type of person whom Rauner needs on his team. So far Rauner has been a friend neither to the unborn nor to social conservatives who care deeply about all human lives, including even the unborn and the imperfect. Despite what Personal PAC and Planned Parenthood believe, the product of conception between two humans is actually a human, and all humans are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life.

Higgins continued,

Whom do you trust: Cosgrove who has spent his entire adult life fighting for the non-existent “right” of women to have their children killed before they breathe their first breath or Brittany Carl, who has the wisdom, compassion, and courage to protect the unalienable right of the least of these to life?

I say, welcome Ms. Carl.

UPDATE post publication of IR story: Illinois Right to Life wrote the following in an email to supporters Friday morning:

Pro-abortion politicians have launched a radical smear campaign of one of the Rauner Administration's new communications hires: Brittany Carl. The abortion extremist are calling for her to be fired immediately.

Her crime?

Last April, prior to being hired, she penned an article defending disabled children and stated:

"Certainly nothing matches the atrocity of the Holocaust, but it's undeniable that abortion is being used to rid the world of disabled and other 'unwanted' persons – a fact the Left and their pro-abortion allies don't want discussed…"

With pro-abortion politicians breathing down the Governor's throat to fire her because she's a pro-life feminist, pro-abortion politicians have sent quite a clear message to Illinoisans through their discriminatory smear campaign:

If you're a successful pro-life woman, you're not welcome in public service.
