SPRINGFIELD – As of today, five Democrats – including a former governor – want to succeed retiring Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan in 2018.

The Democrats thus far include former Governor Pat Quinn, Illinois lawmakers Scott Drury, Kwame Raoul and Nancy Rotering and former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti.

The only Republican having filed is attorney Erika Harold – a conservative backed by Governor Rauner.

AG Madigan – who is Illinois House Speaker and Illinois Democrat Party Chairman Mike Madigan's daughter – has been the state's attorney general since 2003.

  1. In the wake of the outrageous acquittal in the illegal alien’s murder of Kate Steinle, why is there no post on this here?
And why is there no explicit mention of the Republicans and so-called Illinois conservatives who were either supportive of open borders and illegal alien amnesty – or silent about it, for at least, the past 3 decades?

  2. Sheesh, Clint.
How much do you contribute to IR to keep their writers on duty 24/7? I’ll bet you’ve never given a dime, yet you’re so demanding.
    And ungrateful.
    Sheesh.
Keep up the good work, IR, and continue to bring Illinois conservatives stories that aren’t covered elsewhere. We appreciate your independence and your generosity it providing free news.
