Ives responds: Benedict Rauner’s 10 Betrayals in 2017

WHEATON: In response to Governor Rauner's proclaimed 10 best things he's done for the state of Illinois since becoming governor in 2015, Republican primary challenger Jeanne Ives released her own list Wednesday afternoon.  A list of what Ives considers "Benedict Rauner's" betrayals:

1. Folding to Madigan. From State Rep. Peter Breen, House Republican Floor Leader, "I personally observed him badly botch negotiations with the General Assembly on a variety of subjects, finally getting to the point where Governor Rauner couldn’t even be in the same room as House Speaker Mike Madigan. Madigan is the one guy who Rauner promised to stand up to, but he can’t or won’t even enter the arena for that fight."

2. HB 40. From the man who said he had "no social agenda" Benedict Rauner told Illinois families he would veto the legislation. He committed to the GOP legislative caucuses that he would veto the legislation. Instead he became the first governor in U.S. history to initiate taxpayer funding for abortion on demand, all nine months of pregnancy. This creates a new, open-ended entitlement at a time when Illinois has $16 billion in unpaid bills to vendors and social service providers.

3. Sanctuary State. From the man who said he had "no social agenda" Benedict Rauner joined leftist governors like California's Jerry Brown in designating Illinois a "sanctuary state" the effect of which is inhibiting the cooperation between local, state and federal law enforcement. This legislation make Illinois families less safe.

4. Trans Birth Certificates. From the man who said he had "no social agenda" Benedict Rauner signed legislation to allow individuals to change the sex listed on their birth certificate. Dr. Michelle Cretella, President of the American College of Pediatricians, recently wrote: ‘No one is born transgender. If gender identity were hardwired in the brain before birth, identical twins would have the same gender identity 100 percent of the time. But they don’t.  Biological sex is not assigned. Sex is determined at conception by our DNA and is stamped into every cell of our bodies. An identity is not biological, it is psychological. It has to do with thinking and feeling. Thoughts and feelings are not biologically hardwired. Our thinking and feeling may be factually right or factually wrong.’ Rauner's legislation will put grown men in women's bathrooms with girls and boys in girls' locker rooms.

5. Public Sector Utility Bailout. Rauner negotiated a $2.35 billion bail out of a company that makes over $2 billion in profit a year – that doesn't make sense. Since Illinois produces 40% more electricity than we consume, our residents are subsidizing cheaper power to residents in other states.  And the same crony subsidy Exelon argued for in IL, they argued against for their competition in Ohio.

6. Bailout of Chicago Public School Pensions. Benedict Rauner's $100K wine club buddy Rahm said of Rauner's bailout, Chicago Public Schools got everything he wanted "and more".

7. Rauner Promised the State Income Tax Would be Down to 3% by the End of His First Term. Instead, it's back up to Pat Quinn levels at 4.95%. Rauner saw 15 of his bought-and-paid for House Republicans vote with Mike Madigan to pass the 32% increase while he sat impotently by.

8. Same old politics. Rauner won't answer questions about the dismissal of his former general counsel and a memo surfaced suggesting that Rauner was intent on using state resources for political purposes, one of the bases that sent two former governors to federal prison.

9. No Action on the State’s Two Largest Issues: Pensions and Property Taxes. In a 2014 campaign ad, Bruce Rauner blasted Pat Quinn for property tax rates that were the second highest, saying ‘He just doesn’t get it.’ Today, according to the Wall Street Journal, ‘Property taxes in Cook County and Chicago’s “collar” counties are the highest in the country outside of California and the Northeast. In 2014, Governor Rauner repeatedly said he would replace traditional pensions for public workers with 401(k)-style retirement plans. Three years later, Fitch Ratings reports that Illinois’s unfunded pension liabilities equaled 22.8% of residents’ personal income last year, compared to a median of 3.1% across all states and 1% in Florida.’

10. "I am not in charge." Rauner ended the year with a Freudian slip, admitting that he has ceded control of Illinois to Mike Madigan and Chicago Democrats.

“Is this the new face of the Illinois GOP? Will Republicans accept their thirty pieces of silver to continue backing Benedict Rauner, or will they reject him in advancement of their stated values and principles? On March 20, we will find out.”

  1. I think Rauner signing SB 1696, the Illinois Muslim American Advisory Council Act should be on the list. Stomping on our constitutionally protected religious freedoms is a serious betrayal.
This bill(SB 1696) violates the Illinois constitution, Article 1, Section 3, Religious Freedom: . Muslim is not an ethnicity, it is a condition dependent upon being a practitioner of Islam. This bill gives a leg up to Islam and is a violation of this Illinois constitution religious freedom clause “nor shall any preference be given by law to any religious denomination”. I read the bill and it will benefit Islam and theocratic Islamic countries, the state legislature majority can say they are Muslim majority countries as is stated in the bill to try to confuse us, but we know they are Theocratic ISLAMIC countries, we are not fooled. Had a Catholic Advisory Council proposed bill been brought to the floor for a vote the screams from the left would have been deafening. The Illinois general assembly and Rauner betrayed us, they stomp on our constitutionally protected freedoms. The Illinois constitution’ religious freedom clause “nor shall any preference be given by law to any religious denomination” was included for a good reason, because Illinois law makers are NOT allowed to enact law concerning religious preference, because they can destroy a religion by law. Just like churches cannot lawfully be taxed because the power to tax is the power to destroy religion by Illinois govt and the state govt could pick and choose who they want to succeed, like the anti-Christian crook county controlled state legislature is doing, by promoting Islam. Unlawful SB 1696 should be stricken from the books!
Illinois constitution, Article one, Section 3. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
“The free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship, without discrimination, shall forever be guaranteed, and no person shall be denied any civil or political right, privilege or capacity, on account of his religious opinions; but the liberty of conscience hereby secured shall not be construed to dispense with oaths of affirmations, excuse acts of licentiousness, or justify practices inconsistent with the peace or safety of the State. No person shall be required to attend or support any ministry or place of worship against his consent, nor shall any preference be given by law to any religious denomination or mode of worship”. ~ (Source: Illinois Constitution.)
I demand Free Methodist and Lutheran Advisory Councils. Stop discriminating against us Christians democrat controlled state legislature. Where’s the equality, stop oppressing us Christians. Yes, for this issue alone Rauner needs tarred and feathered

  2. Repeal of this law should be on the ballot for removal in every county board race in Illinois. This is the grass roots battle ground to support Ms. Ives campaign and begin getting social policy government out of our freedom of choice

  3. Sam Pierce, Ad Hominem attack on me, don’t change the fact that I’m right about Jeanne’s puppet master, Dan (good fellows) Profit.
Attack the messenger, when you don’t like the message. The fact is Jeanne is not what she seems to be. the “real” Jeanne is one that lies about her support as well as not being smart enough to be governor

  4. I think you’re a little wrong Mr. Globerti. Accusing the accuser of the thing you are doing is what your engaged in is a bit cheap.
Besides that, the point I really want to make is I know and watched Jeanne pearsonly for years, and I know she will obfuscate the truth in order to move her political career forward.
I have seen the lies when she ran for Wheaton City Council, which she was on the Council a few short months, to springboard her to State Rep, with the help of few political hacks and lie to get there, and then dump them.
Jeanne is only about Jeanne and what she can get. Make no mistake, Jeanne has make many emiemis here in the 43nd district, who really know the truth about her, and ironically, want to see her to run for Governor. The reason is Jeanne will, overstep her ablitics, friends and political capital and will be pushed off the stage. Go Jeanne.
PS. You bet I’m afraid and a coward. Jeanne and her friends are vindictive and will destroy anyone who tells the truth about her and her political sugar daddy Dan Profit. These people are rough and will hurt personally those who stand in their way of money and power.
