Three student journalists are suing the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign for allegedly violating their rights to free press, free speech, and due process.
The lawsuit claims the students were punished for reporting on an anti-Trump rally, during which two of them were assaulted by a graduate student instructor who was participating in the demonstration.
The third student was also issued a restraining order merely for reporting on the altercation, and claims that he was told by an administrator that he should stop writing if he wanted the situation to improve.
