Any successful business executive knows that if you get beaten badly by your competitors, it is time to do a strategic reboot so that you can accomplish your mission and your goals. After seeing the results of the last election in which the GOP in Illinois essentially got wiped out in a “Blue Wave”, it is clearly time for the Illinois GOP leadership to do a major strategic reboot so we can win again and save our state from disaster. After all as Einstein said many years ago “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.

The problem is that doing a successful strategic plan means that you have to be brutally honest with yourself and identify you legitimate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Many organizations have a hard time doing this because you have to admit that your organization has flaws. I know that this process works because I ran a successful manufacturing company that won Industry Week Magazine’s “Plant of the Year Award” which means that were one of the top manufacturers in all of North America. That brutal strategic planning process was critical for our success. When I retired I was asked to run for Precinct Committeeman by Republicans in Lake County and I was elected. My biggest shock in that process was to see how behind the times the Republican Party of Illinois was. They had the right ideas and values but they executed them the “Good Old Boy” way which was out dated, ineffective, and a path to failure.

In contrast, my observations of the Democrats were that they had the wrong ideas and wrong values but they were incredibly effective in “selling” those bad ideas and bad values using best in class processes. I tried to share the same “best practices” we successfully used in our business to achieve world class results with the Republicans but because they weren’t the “Good Old Boy” practices I couldn’t get traction and didn’t run again out of frustration.

Now there can be no denying the fact that the GOP in Illinois is in dire straits and it is time to do that honest strategic planning and SWOT process and admit our weaknesses and the strengths of our Democrat foes with the goal of taking advantage of our strengths and effectively attacking Democrats weaknesses. The good news is that the hard facts and morality is on the GOP side if we can just do a better job of aggressively attacking Democrats that will eventually destroy Illinois if they are allowed to continue winning.

Republicans support the traditional American values that made America the most powerful and prosperous nation in the history of this planet which brought freedom to over a billion people around the world. Under Republican President Trump, we now have the lowest unemployment in 49 years, the lowest Black and Hispanic unemployment in American history, and the best pay raises for mid and low income Americans in 10 years. On the other hand, per polling 57% of Democrats are socialists which any person who is not comatose knows has destroyed Venezuela which used to be the 4th wealthiest nation on Earth. The average Venezuelan has lost over 20 pounds in 12 months thanks to socialism. Democrats and Mike Madigan have essentially run Illinois for decades and made Illinois the most bankrupt state in the union with the worst bond rating of any state and more people are fleeing Illinois than any other state. Republicans should be trouncing Democrats in Illinois! We need to honestly admit our weaknesses and fix them so that we can crush Democrats in the next election and save our state for our kids and grandkids!
