SPRINGFIELD – While the trendy emphasis may be on "freeing" people to legally use cannabis, one former addict says the whole "legalize pot" movement now expected to be embraced by Illinois' Democrat-controlled General Assembly is really all about selling THC.

"This isn't your grandpa's weed," Ben Cort says in a TedTalk from Colorado.

In 2012, Colorado legalized cannabis and kickstarted a multibillion dollar industry with every product imaginable — brownies, gummy bears, granola bars, even lube! But to say that we’ve “legalized cannabis” is mistaken — we’ve commercialized THC.

"The vast majority [of pot] being sold today really isn't cannabis," Cort says.

  1. So where is the GOP on this issue? Running with their tails between their legs like they did on “Gay” marriage and other social issues?
The genesis for a new party is taking shape throughout America and the listless GOP isn’t going to like what happens!

  2. thank gawd it isn’t grandpa’s weed. Because it was often laced with PCP and other crap. With state approved and licensed and that can’t happen at least not without loss of licence and arrest.
whats up with the weed scare tactics? you get checks from liquor vendors selling their liver killing alcohol poison?

  3. Rich Miller has really gone into full censorship mode. No point in visiting his “Capitol Fax Blog.” One would imagine that the citizenry are overwhelmingly happy to smoke pot, pay higher taxes and shred the Second Amendment. Hail, hail the gangs all here.
