By Mark Weyermuller -

I woke up this morning to see one of the lead stories is that former press secretary under President Trump will be back in prime time. Sean Spicer is booked to join the cast of "Dancing with the Stars" next season.

In the announcement from the ABC network, Spicer will he joined by Christie Brinkley, Bachelorette star Hannah Brown, former NBA All-Star Lamar Odom, and James Van Der Beek. James played Dawson on the late 90’s Show “Dawson’s Creek.”  (Don’t tell anybody, but I used to watch it.)

I’ve met Sean Spicer several times at events like the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington D.C. A couple of years ago he was interviewed by former Obama campaign guru David Axelrod at the University of Chicago. There were a few protesters and the threat of students doing “projectile vomiting” if he was allowed to speak. Thankfully, the protests didn't happen. I wrote about it in Illinois Review, link here.

Spicer was in Chicago last year for a book signing at the Museum of Broadcasting. He was interviewed there with Bruce DuMont. It was done on a mock up of the set of Saturday Night Live. Spicer became much more known to America from a skit on SNL with Melissa McCarthy portraying him. The clip below: https://youtu.be/UWuc18xISwI

So the media is alive with stories of blowback with possible boycott and protests. Love him or hate him, people want to see anything associated with President Trump. It’s television – which is all about ratings. I’m planning to watch, that Is if there is nothing good on Netflix or the Hallmark Channel.
