By Mark Weyermuller –

Wednesday night America witnessed another historic moment as the United States House of Representatives voted to impeach the 45th President, Donald J. Trump. As the vote was talking place In Washington,  D.C. the president held a "Merry Christmas Rally" in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Over 5400 were inside Battle Creek's Kellogg Arena, with thousands unable to come in as the local fire marshall stopped admitting people into the building about 90 minutes before the president took the stage. Many people were waiting for hours in 17 degree temperatures as the venue opened early at 3:00 p.m. – four hours before the president was scheduled to speak.

For me the most amazing thing about a Trump rally is talking to the people that attend. I spoke with at least 100 people during my four hours wait inside prior to the presidential speech. Everybody knows if you don’t come early, you might not get in. I was fortunate to be approved for a “official White House press credential” which allowed me to enter at a  “media only” entrance with no line.  The White House recognizes IllinoisReview.com as an important news source.

Saundra Kiczenski shown here next to me was first in line for the rally. She arrived two days before the rally.  She and her friend Judy Chiodo camped out to make sure they were first in and were front and center of the stage. Saundra has attended 31 Trump rallies.  he others in this photo were the third and fourth in line.

There was so much excitement outside as people waited in long lines to go through security checks before going inside. There were lots of vendors selling all kinds of Trump buttons, tee shirts and MAGA hats. I met a nice lady who had her own custom Trump earrings.

The program started with a prayer, the pledge of allegiance, and the national anthem. Trump campaign chair Brad Parscale warmed up the crowd while introducing a number of candidates and VIPs, including John James who running for U.S. Senate in Michigan. I had a chance to chat with James after his remarks.

Vice President Mike Pence was also here and introduced President Trump. Here is the full speech on this YouTube link: https://youtu.be/spfBk9j-8SE
The president spoke for close to two hours on a large variety of topics. He started his remarks with, “I’m thrilled to be here with thousands of hardworking patriots as we celebrate the miracle of Christmas, the greatness of America and the glory of God.”

As usual, Trump went off script and off the teleprompter. He spoke of eliminating regulation so light bulbs won’t cost as much. He also spoke about the water regulations requiring low flush toilets which end up using more water overall – things that other politicians would never mention. These are topics which the president connects with people. One quote here in reference to former FBI Director James Comey as he said, “Did I do a great job when I fired his ass?”  This got a huge ovation from the crowd.  I suggest you listen to the whole speech on the link above.

Of note, Santa Claus was also in attendance.

The news is Nancy Pelosi is waiting (holding off) to officially submit the Articles of Impeachment to the US Senate, so there is some question about its future. There might be a trial in the Senate, and there might not be. Either way, Congress left for the holidays Thursday, so nothing will happen on impeachment until January.

An exclusive bit of news here. Thursday night at the Illinois GOP holiday party, IL GOP Chairman Tim Schneider said  they are in talks to get President Trump here early next year for a speech on economic development in Chicago. There is also talk he might do a rally in the western suburbs and or near the state line in Kenosha, Wisconsin. There are also rumors of the Sears Center which holds 11,000 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. These are just rumors, totally unconfirmed.

There are just 319 till Election Day on Tuesday, November 4, 2019.
