GRUNDY COUNTY – Grundy County Board Chairman Chris Balkema posted the following resolution on his Facebook page Tuesday night, saying the Board unanimously supported the effort.
The resolution calls on the Governor to remove their county from the same "Restore Illinois" region as Cook County and Chicago, and add it into the plan's North-Central Health region:
Here’s some persuasive authority from a neighboring state that J. B. Pritzker, Esq., will not like to read:
The Wisconsin Supreme Court has struck down Governor Tony Evers’ coronavirus stay-at-home order in the first ruling of its kind, saying that his administration overstepped its authority when it extended the mandate for another month without consulting legislators.
Problem is: the Illinois State Constitution is vague in it’s wording, allows the governor to call ANOTHER state of emergency when the first one ends, but doesn’t state it must be for a different” purpose, or not.
As I understand it, that’s how the Illinois Supreme Court dodged the issue in it’s recent ruling
Contact your state reps and senators, and ask for legislation to close this sloppy loophole.
Well, that ought to do it. I can see Pritzker quivering now.
You know, like a bowl full of jelly.
