Chicago’s Thanksgiving Holiday Violence Far Outpaces Other Major U.S. Cities

By Randy Rossi -

Need some proof that defunding the police is a very bad idea? On Father’s Day Weekend in Chicago, over 100 people were shot and 14 of those shot died including a 3 year old boy and a 13 year old girl.

Based on pure statistics, the odds are that most if not all of those victims were African-American and 91.6% of them were shot by African-Americans. Not one shooting involved the police. Yet while these horrible shootings were going on in Chicago, liberals all across the country were demanding that we “Defund the Police”. Pretty crazy right? I mean if a bad guy is threatening to shoot you and the police have been defunded, who would you call to save your life? PETA?

In case anybody thinks that this is a one off, in the last week of May bad guys shot 85 people in Chicago and 25 people died in the worst weekend shooting in several years. Not one of those shootings involved the police and statistically most of the victims were African-Americans who were shot by fellow African-Americans 91.6% of the time.

Statistically, police are involved in only 0.1% of fatal African-American shootings vs the 91.6% that involve fellow African-Americans. Yet instead of focusing on the 91.6% of shootings that involve fellow African-Americans, Black and White liberals focus on blaming the police that are only involved in 0.1% of Blacks being shot. That is the definition of crazy!

Anybody who has studied criminology knows that while criminals may be bad people, they are not  stupid. If they know that there are high odds they will be caught by the police and punished if they commit a crime, most criminals will avoid committing crimes because they do not want to go to jail. But if they are confident that they can commit a crime and not be caught and punished, they will commit more crimes. Actually, it’s not complicated. If you punish bad behavior, you get less of it. If you reward bad behavior you will get more of it. Defunding the police would be like a Christmas present for criminals and a really bad nightmare for all innocent Americans.

If you want to see how crazy things can get if we defund the police, take a look at Seattle. The crazy Democrat Mayor of Seattle has not only let lawlessness and chaos rule in several blocks of Seattle, she has endorsed it as a “festival”. Because police are not allowed in the “Chaz” zone of Seattle (Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone) , the number of shootings has increased. Why is anybody surprised? And last night after two shootings which killed one person in that CHAZ zone, the crazy people in that zone violently resisted the police when they tried to enter to find and arrest those violent shooters. Pretty smart right?

Here is the rational solution to help protect those poor African-Americans that are being shot down 91.6% of the time by fellow African-Americans. First insure that there is a strong and well trained police department that actively works in their neighborhoods to protect them. Second, we all need to work together to help rebuild the intact African-American family. 70% of children raised without their father live a life of crime and/or poverty. Sadly, over 70% of African-American children are raised without their fathers which explains why so many of them live a tragic life of crime and/or poverty. Those two things could dramatically improve the lives of most African-Americans. Defunding the police will destroy the African-American communities and bring more violence and crime to all communities in America.
