84% Undecided: Republican Voters Are Not Lining Up Behind Party Insiders in Illinois Senate Primary

By Nancy Thorner -

On March 16, 2021, I received an e-mail from my Canadian scientist friend, Tom Harris, indicating that his new science-based, not-for-profit site – in conjunction with the International Climate Science Coalition Canada – was now operational. Tom Harris is Executive Director of the science-based, non-partisan group.

Tom’s education was in thermo-fluids and energy sciences, and he has a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Tom has 40 years of experience working as a mechanical engineer and project manager, science and technology communications professional, and media and S&T advisor to a former Opposition Environment Critic in Canada’s Federal Parliament.

For the past 20 years, Tom has been working with a team of independent scientists and engineers to promote a sensible approach to a range of energy and environmental topics, particularly in climate change.

As Mr. Harris explained to me, "The purpose of his new science-based, not-for-profit site with the International Climate Science Coalition Canada is to alert Canadians to the fact that the only climate policy that makes sense is adaptation to Climate Change.  No matter what one believes about the causes of Climate Change, we cannot stop it."

Harris then steered me to a recent article of his, Adaptation a Sensible Climate Policy for Canada's Conservatives, which summaries the site's purpose.

Climate Change Minutes

Featured each weekday on the home page is a new "Climate Change Minute" video.  Mr. Harris welcomes suggestions for good topics for the “Minute".

Noted below are the initial "Climate Change Minute" videos for March 17th and 18th, 2021:

  • March 17: (on polar bears): https://youtu.be/CzX2vxG9U8k
  • March 18: (on extreme weather): https://youtu.be/za6lmGfd0WA
To view each week day Climate Change Minute video, scroll down to the bottom of the home page or view directly at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdOSx3AE2kE.

Although not yet happening, shortly all old Climate Minute episodes will be listed on the Resource page, accessed by going to the home site where Resources appears in the top heading.  In Resources go to Climate Change Minutes.

Getting started

Harris credits the idea for the videos featured at www.icsc-canada.com to Ditchley Public Affairs, a Canadian-based strategic communications and political marketing firm, with whom there remains a close relationship.  I was surprised when Harris told me that his Internet site took only about a month to set up.

Final thoughts

Most importantly, add www.icsc-canada.com to your favorite Internet sites to check every weekday morning for your daily dose of Climate Change Minutes. You won’t be disappointed.

It isn't only Canadians who must be alerted to the fact that the only climate policy that makes sense is adaptation to Climate Change.  No matter what Americans believes about the causes of Climate Change, they cannot stop it.
