By John F. Di Leo -

It was a day for the record books, indeed.

With great fanfare from the Democratic Party's house organs, once known as the mainstream media, a "historic" vote was held at the U.S. Capitol, on Thursday, April 7, A.D. 2022:

By a majority vote of 53 to 47, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm the first publicly pro-convict Associate Justice to be added to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Every single Democrat, from freshman to senior, from red state to blue – including alleged moderates like Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona and Joe Manchin of West Virginia – voted to confirm Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. Their reelection campaign staffs will soon join the rest of the country in regretting the vote.

The News of the Week

What else happened this week in the American court system?

On Sunday, April 3, two brothers, Smiley and Dandrae Martin, both frequently convicted felons with plenty of convictions but hardly any jail time, were among the perpetrators in a gangland shooting spree in Sacramento, California that left six dead and over a dozen more injured.

On Monday, April 4, New Orleans police announced the apprehension of 18-year-old Tyrone Steele, accused of a triple murder in Gentilly on March 21 and a separate murder in Little Woods on March 26, not to mention a couple of February burglaries.  He was only free to commit these crimes because grand juries decided they wouldn't be able to win in court if they charged him with two more separate crimes they were sure he'd committed, an attempted murder in 2020 and a murder in 2021. But they let him go in both cases, so he was out and about, free to commit a string of homicides this March.

On Tuesday, April 5, a car thief was apprehended in Hammond, Indiana by an alert K-9 unit.  This felon was still out on the streets on bond, awaiting trial for a particularly horrific attempted murder charge: in January, 2020, a 13-year-old girl refused to have sex with him, so he allegedly shot her in the back, leaving her bleeding on a sidewalk, paralyzed for life, while he runs around free on bail, stealing cars and having fun.

On Wednesday, April 6, Baton Rouge, Louisiana law enforcement announced the arrests of a band of active felons known as the Banks Town Mafia, a ring of drug pushers and gun runners, all with long criminal records, still out on the streets, terrorizing the parish and facilitating others to do the same, as they spread their stock of illegal drugs and firearms through the criminal community..

And on Thursday, the U.S. Senate promoted Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, a former co-chair of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, who has spent her career working to reduce the sentences given to violent, convicted criminals, from drug dealers to murderers to gang recruiters to pedophiles. Her life's work has been to throw open the prison gates and put these cretins back on the street as soon as possible… and she has now been elevated to a seat on the United States Supreme Court.

Since Joe Biden announced his nomination of Judge Brown Jackson, the conservative and alternative media have focused on her biography, her sentencing history, and the decisions she has written during her time in the federal judiciary.  This research has revealed a long and clear history of showing preference for the convicted felon over the innocent victim, a disregard for safe streets, and a shocking degree of favoritism toward the hardened criminal element.

But the mainstream media have buried the real story, focusing instead on her sex and her color – as if that mattered – instead of doing their job: to enable the American public to learn about a Supreme Court nominee's record and worldview.

The cities of America are suffering a terrible, skyrocketing crime wave.  Careful study of the perpetrators reveals that we don't have a real explosion of people choosing a life of crime; rather, we have an explosion of district attorneys, judges, legislators and governors who revel in setting recidivist criminals free, so they can do it again, and again, and again.

While slapping each other on the back this week to see Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmed, the Left took special joy in the fact that the unanimous Democrat caucus was joined by three confused Republicans: Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Mitt Romney… so they can pretend that it was a bipartisan choice, but that claim will not fly.  The fact that three out-of-touch Republicans with hearts bigger than their brains couldn't bring themselves to vote against the first black female socialist on the court doesn't make it a bipartisan appointment.

No, the story of the day is the unanimous vote by fifty Democrat Senators, joining the dementia patient in the Oval Office in the crime of putting the first pro-criminal justice ever on the Supreme Court.

No matter how much the spinmeisters may sugarcoat it, this isn't about her color, and it isn't about her sex.  The story of the day is that her absolutely anti-American predilection – for setting violent criminals free before their time – now has a seat on the highest court in the land.

And if the Democratic Party thinks that's good for the country – or for their candidates on the ballot this year – then they're even further out of touch than we thought before.
