Only New York and California are worse for businesses, the Chief Executive Magazine says.

Add to that a new Legislative Scorecard put out by an Illinois-based manufacturing association. Less than 30% of Illinois state lawmakers vote favorably towards small to mid-sized manufacturers.

  1. One of my LOB is in a small business consulting capacity, I specialize in franchises, small starts ups, and small business format replication.
    I have not recommended to any client that they attempt to start-up anything in IL or expand here (unless it is transportation related in over 15 years. Other states are more business friendly and have vastly superior low skill and semi-skilled labor pools.
    Why anyone would start a business in IL is beyond me (the afore mentioned transportation related business vertical a noted exception.)
