NEW YORK – In an email to supporters, Donald Trump's campaign explained his decision to skip the next debate after Fox News refused his demand to dump veteran female journalist Megyn Kelly from the forum.

From the email:

Unlike the very stupid, highly incompetent people running our country into the ground, Mr. Trump knows when to walk away. Roger Ailes and FOX News think they can toy with him, but Mr. Trump doesn’t play games. There have already been six debates, and according to all online debate polls including Drudge, Slate, Time Magazine, and many others, Mr. Trump has won all of them, in particular the last one. Whereas he has always been a job creator and not a debater, he nevertheless truly enjoys the debating process - and it has been very good for him, both in polls and popularity.

He will not be participating in the FOX News debate… Like running for office as an extremely successful person, this takes guts and it is the kind mentality our country needs in order to Make America Great Again.

  1. Trump has his own game. He’s not about to play the games others design in their feeble attempts to “trap” him. As the old guy who already had six kids told the priest about practicing birth control;
“You no play the game, you no make the rules!”
Trump will get more publicity from THIS action than he would from playing the media’s game.
If Romney would have done this, then so-called “moderator” Martha Raddich would not have had her opportunity to play the Liberal one-sided game.
Maybe Romney could have WON as a result!
This is what the media, and the other GOP candidates just do not understand about Trump, and their lack of understanding this is why Trump is leading.
If favorable media attention and GOP Establishment money is so good for a candidate, why is Jeb Bush’s campaign stuck in the cellar, with no ladder to climb out?

  2. Expressed like a true old-school political hack of the ilk that brought us Presidents Dole, McCain and Romney and the Illinois State Legislative GOP permanent super-minority.
After wiping the floor with them 6 times, why should Trump degrade himself by appearing with that gaggle of nondescript losers? Why subject himself to the ambush journalism of the leftist media yet again?
Aside from the soon-to-be-gone GOP candidates that will kneel tonight before the left-wing media gods, the biggest losers will be the advertisers that bought time on this broadcast.

  3. Mistake to not debate. He should show up, smile at Kelly, and if she or anyone else tries a cheap shot like she did- then blast them out of the water.
If that happened it would pretty much sew up his nomination.
Again, a huge mistake not to show up.

  4. Trump lives rent free in the minds of the media and he’s about to start charging them for the privilege of him occupying their minds. It’s unbelievable the rings he skates around them. The only bigger dupes are the analysts that have no clue as to what his motives are.
Here’s a hint as to what “The Donald” always has in mind. Let the narrative always have him as the lead. It doesn’t matter what the criticism, just that no other candidate is allowed any oxygen in the world of the election. The other candidates will get their nine minutes in front of the camera while he’ll have led the news and talk shows for the last week and the week to come.
I already know who represents my thinking (not Trump btw) and these debates are actually getting more useless as they go on. He’ll still be mentioned often enough that his presence will still be there. Trump is probably the best manipulator of the media that there ever has been. Hopefully he uses this ability for the good of the people of this country because I don’t know how you beat him.

  5. Trump got MORE publicity from NOT being at the debate than he would have, had be been there.
This morning (Friday) he’s getting even MORE publicity because of his absence
Because of this, more media time will be spent on Trump
today than on all the other candidates, Megyn Kelly, and the actual debate, COMBINED.
Ishep, I believe you have analyzed Trump’s strategy well, and you are absolutely correct.
