UPDATE 2/3/2018: IL GOP State Chairman Tim Schneider shamed Rep. Jeanne Ives' campaign for the above ad, demanding it be pulled down immediately:
"There is no place in the Illinois Republican Party for rhetoric that attacks our fellow Illinoisans based on their race, gender or humanity. Representative Ives' campaign ad does not reflect who we are as the Party of Lincoln and as proud residents of our great and diverse state. She should pull down the ad and immediately apologize to the Illinoisans who were negatively portrayed in a cowardly attempt to stoke political division."
Update 2/3/2018: The Ives campaign spokesperson Kathleen Murphy just told Illinois Review the ad is paid for by the Ives Campaign as is the BenedictRauner.com website. The ad has this notice:
Update 2/3/2018: Illinois Family Institute's opinion writer Laurie Higgins posted the following support for Ives' ad:
People, in the immortal words of Cher, “SNAP OUT OF IT!” This is a gunfight, “progressives” are bringing artillery, and conservatives are not even bringing rubber knives.
As West Point grad, former ROTC instructor, and Army Vet Ives walks onto the battlefield armed with a video that makes the utterly commonsense observation that crossdressing men don’t belong in girls’ restrooms, that citizens shouldn’t have to pay for the “choice” of women to have their babies dismembered, and that the rule of law matters even when it comes to immigration, “progressives” release a volley of invective, and conservatives go weak in the knees. Jeanne Ives is exactly the kind of candidate Illinois needs.
As Higgins' column says, Democrat gubernatorial candidates, the ACLU and homosexual rights org "Equality Illinois" have all come out strongly criticizing the Ives' campaign.
The woman in the red dress is beautiful. I’d like to get her number.
It’s old white men grievances on parade.
On Friday evening’s TV news, the media were already screaming that Jeanne’s ad was “racist,” “disgusting,” etc.
In short, all the Liberal crap they scream whenever the TRUTH IS TOLD.
This kind of ad is why Jeanne will never be governor. Is the the best We have in the Illinois Republican party?
Great ad…. the libturds can’t handle the truth.
Oh, my! Jeanne! What planet are you from?
You have now become the #1 destroyer of the Illinois Republican Party with your political nonsense. If you truly love your fellow Illinoisans, quit the campaign and SUPPORT Republicans.
Your trash can take down many other Republican candidates on the ballot by promoting a lower voter turnout. Because of your hissy fit Illinois will become even bluer, somewhere to the left of Cuba.
You put this garbage up just because you’re down in the polls? Be careful when you claim to love our state!
Jeanne! TAKE DOWN THIS AD!

The humor in this ad is sophomoric and embarrassing.
Hope the boys that set up this ad got their cut – and should get credit for sinking a once-promising campaign.
No need to stick your finger in the eye of a group of already-angry radicals.
Notice who is screaming and having hissy fits against this ad: liberal Democrats, including those like Pat Brady and Tim Schneider who disguise themselves as Republicans. The ad is the truth, and there is nothing offensive in it.
She must appeal to her conservative base, which it does. Is it polarizing? Sure, because good and evil can never find common ground.
My only criticism is it could have been shorter, more precise for short attention spans, and ended with a comment from Ives to improve her name recognition. You have to read the fine print and listen to the liberal media to hear Ives’ name.
This is just bad. There is a much better way to articulate Rauner’s betrayals and ineffectiveness. Substance always beats rhetoric. She may well have turned off many of the people she needs to get elected. Myself included
A Chicago republican ward committeeman told me that Chairman Schneider is a Democrat who pretends to be a Republican. I hope his opinion of the Ives ad will cause him to be replaced by a conservative.
I love this ad!!
However, the guy cast as the criminal illegal immigrant doesn’t look Hispanic; he looks Norwegian! That’s not right!!
But “it’s not a lie if you believe it”, as George Constanza once said.
I questioned that too, but now she can’t be accused of racism. All illegal immigrant criminals should be treated equally—even Norwegian ones.
Amen… Jeanne is a destroyer of the Illinois GOP…
That’s Dan Profit
It is Schneider who should be “pulled down immediately.” He and Rauner have been dismal failures, particularly when it comes to rebuilding the Republican party. And all these howls coming from Democrats and Establishment RINOs are all the same as those hurled at Donald Trump. We know how that turned out: the voters had a different opinion.
Illinois can’t become bluer. It will never heal itself until Rauner is gone.
The ad is doing exactly what it was DESIGNED to do, generate debate and name ID.
If that’s the case then Thank God.
I thought the Illinois GOP was destroyed when they made a lifelong Democrat their nominee in 2014. Who knew they still had a pulse? If ads like this end up costing Rauner the election then three cheers for these ads.
Don’t take it down. Run it even more.
We need, as Republicans, show what we are for, not what we are against. We must bring in people, not drive them away.
Late breaking news two more former Democrats claiming to be “Republican” leaders are denouncing the ad and endorsing Rauner (Morrison and Del Mar). What was funny was that Del Mar told the Daily Herald that he had been weighing his decision until the ad appeared and it forced him to go with Rauner. Like that was ever in doubt given how much $$$$$ he has accepted from Rauner over the years. Schneider could not even get his proposed Pat Brady platform approved at the the last state convention.
Mr. split personality, you have shown that you are for taxpayer funding of abortion and having men use the same restrooms and locker rooms with our daughters. You have shown that you are sick POS, under many names.
Why would you come to a conservative site and assume that we are Republicans, like you? Doesn’t Rauner have any better trolls?
Who do you suppose Rauner voted for – President Trump or Hilary Clinton?
To those who say she’s destroying the Repub party I say WHAT Repub party. Illinois, and particularly Chicago has not had viable candidates to run in elections for many, many years. I LOVE this ad for telling the truth about Rauner. To all the pearl clutchers, chill and be glad this woman isn’t afraid to tell the truth.
Seeing as how that’s the make up of the GOP base I would say it’s a good ad, then.
Doesn’t Rauner know any Republicans he can get to troll conservative sites. Does he have to get Democrats?
I stand with Ives. We need to rid the Ilinois Republican party of the liberal RINO’s that damages the party.
