Rhoads: Shame on the Jesuits

On Friday, the Jesuit Magazine withdrew its previous endorsement of Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court.

According to the Jesuits, a person is not presumed innocent unless proven guilty. They have reversed that standard to one that demands that an accused person must prove they are innocent. Here is their statement.

“If Senate Republicans proceed with his nomination, they will be prioritizing policy aims over a woman’s report of an assault,” the Jesuit magazine said. “Were he to be confirmed without this allegation being firmly disproved, it would hang over his future decisions on the Supreme Court for decades and further divide the country.”

I graduated from a Jesuit college, Loyola University of Chicago, and I have never been more ashamed of an immoral stand by the Society of Jesus.

  1. “Joke” = “Troll.” Ignore him or her.
The Jesuits stance brings back historical memory of the Spanish Inquisition.
Isn’t their “presumed guilty” logic responsible for burning of witches and “heretics?” (heretics being anyone who dared criticize the wrongdoings and hypocrisy of the Catholic Church.)

  2. I graduated from the Jesuit Loyola Academy – as did my father and grandfather. I lived thru it during the time-frame that the Jesuits were hi-jacked by neo-Marxist “Liberation theology,” cadres.
This was chronicled by Fr. Malachi Martin S.J. in his New York Times, best-seller, “The Jesuits: The Society of Jesus and the Betrayal of the Roman Catholic Church.”
No alumni should contribute to their, now leftist, Jesuit alma mater.
    They’re not even Catholic anymore.

  3. Decades ago then Pope John Paul II (1980) told clergy TO STAY OUT OF POLITICS AND ELECTIVE OFFICE! Jesuit priest Robert Drinan withdrew from his sixth election as a Democratic congressman from Massachusetts. Concurrently, Norbertine priest Democrat Robert Cornell withdrew from his run for a third term from Wisconsin.
I gave up supporting the church in which I was born, raised and educated. Today we have a socialist in the Vatican and a socialist as archbishop who promotes illegal immigration.
Back in 2016 His Unholiness said while IN MEXICO about the Trump candidacy: “As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not getting involved in that. I say only this man is not Christian if he has said things like that.” Gimme a break.
As for international politics, His Unholiness gave away control of the Church in China to the Communists. Reminds me of the movie Shoes of the Fisherman. (1968).
