By Randy Rossi -

It is absolutely amazing for informed Americans to watch Democrats successfully stall adding to the “wall” on our southern border that has successfully protected American sovereignty for decades where it exists. Presented properly, the facts for a “wall” are so overwhelming it should be a “no brainer”! Sadly as is so often the case, the GOP is absolutely right on the issue but they have done a poor job of selling their case to the voters while the Democrats as usual are wrong on the issue but they have done a great job of selling their destructive position that goes against all Americans.

The GOP needs to explain why a “wall” is good for all Americans with hard and simple facts that a vast majority of Americans would immediately understand and realize impacts them. First and foremost the GOP needs to explain how illegal immigration hurts them and their children. Hard facts from FAIR show that illegal immigration costs American taxpayers over $100 billion a year by using our health care, schools, and legal and police resources to support between 11-12 million illegal immigrants that broke the law to be here. What every American citizen and legal immigrant should understand is that in addition to that cost, illegal aliens are taking away those critical and limited medical and education resources from them and their kids. Massive teaching resources are being diverted from their kids to illegal immigrants which hurts their kid’s educations. We all wait longer in emergency rooms because illegal aliens go there for free healthcare at our expense. This is a big deal that hurts all of us.

Next the GOP needs to put the small cost of the wall in perspective so all American can understand it. While Democrats make this sound like a huge expense, the $5.7 billion “wall” that President Trump wants to protect Americans represents about 0.01% of our total annual federal budget. That’s peanuts! The average American family’s annual income in 2018 was $59,055 and that would be the same as asking them to spend $5.90 for their own home security a year. Who wouldn’t do that?

The Democrats then push the idea that a wall doesn’t work and it is a medieval tool to make Republicans look stupid. The obvious facts prove them dead wrong. The walls at San Diego, Tucson, Yuma, and El Paso reduced illegal immigration by 93% on average per government statistics. What other federal program has a 93% success and efficiency rate? By the way, yes walls have been around since medieval times as have wheels and they work great on your car today don’t they? I have been to the “wall” in Israel twice and have seen that it dramatically reduced terrorist attacks. Walls are being built right now in Europe to protect them from illegal immigrants and terrorists too. “Walls” have worked continuously since the “Great Wall of China” and Hadrian’s Wall were built centuries ago.

The next argument Democrats use is that a “wall” is immoral. That’s interesting since Democrats Pelosi, Schumer, Hillary Clinton and many others voted for walls and demanded them to protect “blue collar” worker’s jobs and salaries from illegal immigrants that take those jobs and drive down wages. Democrat Presidents Obama and Clinton built “walls” while they were president and publicly supported them as critical for our nation’s safety and economy. What changed? Republican President Trump now wants a wall and Democrats are willing to hurt Americans to hurt President Trump!

Finally, the GOP needs to explain to all legal immigrants and the children of legal immigrants (like me!) that they should be more offended than anyone else about illegal aliens and should therefore strongly support a “wall”. They honorably obeyed the law and waited in line until they could enter our country legally as do one million legal immigrants a year. First they should be offended that illegal aliens broke the law and jumped to the head of the line. Second those illegal aliens are taking jobs away from them and their children. And finally they are breaking “the rule of law” which is the reason many of them came to America and fled the counties that they fled because the “rule of law” is dead and violent drug gangs now run many of those countries. Why would they want to see America decline as the countries they fled did? They don’t. They want to support “the rule of law” and their new nation that they proudly chose to live in.

The case for a “wall” is a “slam dunk” if presented properly. Presenting it clearly and strongly to the American people should be the number one goal of the GOP to protect “The Rule of Law” and our national sovereignty. It should be “Easy peasy”!
