SPRINGFIELD – Illinois appears to be entering the "Age of Aquarius" where "harmony and understanding, sympathy and trust" abound – at least that's what pot promoters are giddy about.

Pot promoters "Protect 30" are running ads on Facebook that delight in both Democrats and Republicans supporting their effort to get rich quick by legalizing marijuana consumption in Illinois.

It's going to be great in Illinois with marijuana everywhere – the black market will end, jobs will be created, tax revenue generated, and pot smokers will no longer go to jail. How much better can things get? their ads convey.

Sure enough, three Republican senators joined their Democrat majority and voted in support of legalizing marijuana this week. And one GOP senator voted an agreeable "present." Apparently, it's already working!

Friday is the last day of the regular session in Springfield – we'll see if more Republicans link up with Democrats in the House.

  1. You’re another leftist buffoon who thinks because someone has an opposing opinion, its because of hate.
Those of us who oppose it do so over safety concerns, as do the vast majority of police in the state

  2. So big government wants to ban tobacco while legalizing marijuana? It is a bad trip. Consider the facts:
Smoking marijuana clearly damages the human lung, and regular use leads to chronic bronchitis and can cause an immune-compromised person to be more susceptible to lung infections.
No one should be exposed to secondhand marijuana smoke.
Due to the risks it poses to lung health, the American Lung Association strongly cautions the public against smoking marijuana as well as tobacco products.
