Illinois public schools to study identified LGBT historical figures

CHICAGO – How a person has sex will now be a factor in whether Illinois public schools' history curriculum will cover him/her/it starting next year. Now Illinois students will know about Alexander the Great, Michaelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci's supposed sexual preferences as a part of their importance to the world's history.

Governor JB Pritzker signed HB 246 into law last Friday. The bill's synopsis says the measure requires public schools to buy with taxpayer dollars only those textbooks that include non-discriminatory reviews of contributions made by persons protected in the Illinois Human Rights Act. The new policy is drawing national attention.

State Rep. Anna Moeller, D-Elgin, who introduced the bill in the Illinois House said Pritzker's actions made last Friday "an important and historic day for fairness and compassion in Illinois."

“The new law’s goal is simple: to understand that people from different backgrounds deserve the same opportunity to learn and be recognized for their contributions in society as everyone else," she said in a statement. “Historically, gay and transgender people have been treated as second-class citizens: persecuted, discriminated against and forgotten. As our society has evolved to rectify these injustices, our school teaching should as well. I hope Illinois schools will embrace the opportunity to show that we all are equal and valuable through this commonsense update to their curriculum."

Illinois Family Action's director David E. Smith disagreed with Rep. Moeller. He said the new policy is "foolish."

“Contrary to what Rep. Moeller claims, HB 246 is obvious tactic to advance another left-wing political ideology in our government schools. Moreover, there is no fairness or compassion for hundreds of thousands of families and taxpayers who hold to traditional Judeo-Christian teaching on sexual morality," Smith told Illinois Review. "Their values are easily forgotten by regressive Democrats who have a supermajority. And while proficiency levels in math, science, reading and writing are in desperate need of attention throughout much of the state, Springfield lawmakers prioritize social engineering? Calling this new policy ‘foolish’ doesn’t seem to suffice.”

The synopsis of HB 246 says it:

Amends the School Code. With regard to the textbook block grant program, provides that the textbooks authorized to be purchased must include the roles and contributions of all people protected under the Illinois Human Rights Act and must be non-discriminatory as to any of the characteristics under the Act. Provides that textbooks purchased with grant funds must be non-discriminatory. Provides that in public schools only, the teaching of history of the United States shall include a study of the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this State. Effective July 1, 2020.

  1. Once again, my standard reminder, about the only good thing I can say about this cesspool masquerading as state, is Illinois has very favorable home schooling laws.
You can scale home schooling to any level: from 100% parent involvement to 0%. The latter is readily accomplished by virtual or distant learning classroom.
And as an FYI, I know several parents who home school in their employer’s office setting, bringing their child to work and sharing their cubicle, using and empty cubicle, or some employers have designated areas for families who do home school.
Lastly (sorry to repeat this point) you have to ask yourself did you have children in order to perpetuate your values and beliefs into the next generation or to perpetuate the values of a corrupt and immoral state into the future?

  2. Programming the young with more lies from the left. The lying left tries to make us think it’s about racial equality, when the truth is it is about special privileges for LGBT and religious persecution for the parents of the victims, their children. Several years ago, about 150 genetic scientists from around world mapped the human genome and didn’t find a LGBT gene. Genes determine skin color, there is no scientific proof LGBT behaviors have a genetic causation. The LGBT “born that way” lie is liberal ideology and not objective, evidence-based science. All behavior is a choice, unless a mental disorder or mental illness is involved. The lying LGBT activist left is immorally propagandizing and teaching OUR children to accept their LGBT ideology uncritically. Notice how the pervert LGBT always goes after the minds of our children with their indoctrinating myths and lies!

  3. HB 246 violates the Bill of Rights in the Illinois state constitution, specifically Article One, Section Three, RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
“The free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession
and worship, without discrimination, shall forever be
guaranteed, and no person shall be denied any civil or
political right, privilege or capacity, on account of his
    religious opinions;
but the liberty of conscience hereby
secured shall not be construed to dispense with oaths or
affirmations, excuse acts of licentiousness, or justify
practices inconsistent with the peace or safety of the State.
No person shall be required to attend or support any ministry
or place of worship against his consent, nor shall any
preference be given by law to any religious denomination or
mode of worship.” (Source: Illinois Constitution.)
We true Christians teach our children that LGBT behaviors are sinful and immoral, that is our constitutionally protected parental and religious freedom to do so. The democrat controlled state legislature operates like oppressive communists, denying both our parental and religious rights. In mother Russian the state had more rights over the children than the parents. The unlawful Socialist Republic of Illinois quickly becoming that way. Hey state legislature, we the people, added the Bill of Rights to the Illinois state constitution to protect our RIGHTS from GOVERNMENT, from socialist-commie asses like the power abusing democrat controlled Illinois state legislature.
Why doesn’t the Illinois attorney general protect we Illinoisans from the government overreach of HB 246? Why do we pay that clown?

  4. I feel better. I just showed a bunch of kids at the park how to play “kill the queer”, king of the hill, and dodge ball.
I feel sorry for these poor children trapped in our educational system. They have no chance, no chance at all.
