GRUNDY Co – Grundy County's eastern border is 65 miles west of Chicago Illinois, is Trump Country with its largest town being Morris with 15,000 residents. Still, they've been drawn into the Restore Illinois plan as part of the same COVID-19 "health region" Chicago is in.
That puts the county at a disadvantage, and Grundy County Board members will be voting on a resolution asked to be moved into the Governor's declared North-Central Health Region.
Cook County hosts nearly 50% of the state's population and its COVID-19 cases.
Grundy County Board Chairman Chris Balkema shared his thoughts during the Law and Justice Committee meeting last Thursday, recorded by WCJG radio station, saying, "We need to see a whole lot more data before being lumped into Cook County and such…"
