By Mark Weyermuller -

On Saturday, President Donald Trump held a “Save America” Rally at the Adam’s County Fairgrounds in Mendon, Illinois.

The big news was Trump’s endorsement of Darren Bailey for Illinois governor and Mary Miller for Congress in the 15th District. Both Bailey and Miller went on stage with the president in front of an estimated crowd of 12,000.

It’s always exciting attending one of these rallies as I’ve been to quite a few. I arrived the night before to meet the “Front Row Joes” who are a group who camp out to be first in line and of course sit in the front row. I’ll add there were many vendors selling tee shirts, flags, buttons, and all kinds pro America items.

There were issues with the rain showers early, extreme heat in the middle, and a downpour with lightning at the very end of Trump’s speech. The Mendon Fire Department along with an army of volunteers helped many people with heat-related issues. Emergency water was brought in and a cooling tent was used. There appeared to be no serious medical injuries. It took us over an hour to leave with thousands of cars parked on the fields there.

Another highlight at a rally is meeting patriots and regular Americans. Other notables there included Mike Lindell (The My Pillow Guy) and Congresswoman Laura Boebert from Colorado. I think I was the only reporter to ask, actually compliment Boebert on her shoes. The fairgrounds were a little muddy with the rain so not many were in high heels.

One other highlight was my appearance on the big screen of a video playing a couple of hours before the president arrived. They showed a clip of me speaking back in February at the Glenview District 225 school board meeting. I took off my mask and was berated with vulgarities by. a school board member.  The clip went viral and I was happily surprised to see it on the video screen here in Mendon with thousands viewing it here. Here is a link to the story.
