Six Democrats – two U.S. Senators and four U.S. Congressmen – recorded a public service announcement that appears to take an unprecedented political path:
These left-wing politicians start out by identifying themselves by both their current elected offices and their past branches of military service, then say that they are recording this PSA specifically to speak to current members of the military and the intelligence services. And they tell them to mutiny.
Now, they don’t use the word “mutiny,” of course. They aren’t that stupid. They don’t want to make it easy to be prosecuted for something that big.
But it’s a distinction without a difference.
These six partisans go on to tell their audience that the Trump administration is behaving unconstitutionally and illegally, and then they “remind” our servicemen that they can – and must – refuse to obey illegal orders.
It’s quite a chilling video.
What kinds of illegal orders are they accusing this administration of issuing, orders so illegal that soldiers would be morally right to refuse them? They don’t say.
But we know from the daily news what the Democrats are talking about.
Rather than simply saying “we disagree about policy choices,” the Democrats claim that perfectly normal executive action is illegal, yes, even identical actions that past Democrat administrations have taken.
They claim that it’s illegal for federal forces to secure the border from illegal aliens. They claim it’s illegal for federal forces to go into the cities and collect illegal aliens for deportation. They claim that it’s illegal for federal forces to arrest drug dealers, killers, kidnappers, child traffickers, sex traffickers, and other such vermin credibly suspected of federal crimes. They claim that it’s illegal for federal forces to deport these illegal aliens once found.
Never mind that in most cases, over 90 percent of the illegal aliens caught up in these sweeps turn out to have been wanted for years, and have long rap sheets at least of multiple arrests (though, like so many criminals nowadays, they keep dodging the actual trials that would have convicted them). Never mind that they are often caught red-handed, while in the very process of committing more crimes.
It’s not enough. It’s never enough. Because the Democratic Party wants these tens of millions of illegal aliens here, no matter what. They are counting on the votes of this demographic. The Democrats are pinning a lot of hopes on that population.
We are supposed to think that these six Democrats – chosen because their own past “service” would lend respectability to their offensive PSA – are trying to discourage members of ICE, the DEA, Customs and Border Protection, and other federal forces from doing their job every day and following perfectly standard orders.
But we know – and they know too – there’s no such chance of that.
DEA agents know that orders to arrest drug dealers are legal. FBI agents know that orders to capture child and sex traffickers are legal. ICE agents know that orders to capture illegal aliens are legal.
They know, because it’s their job!
And the six partisans in the commercial know that they know.
They know perfectly well that they haven’t a leg to stand on in this claim, and that they aren’t going to convince any federal forces to abandon their posts and refuse these rightful orders.
So then why did they really make this commercial?
Because even though they say it’s aimed at these federal forces, it’s really not.
Not at all.
The commercial is targeting gullible civilians – people who don’t know the law, don’t know the United Code of Military Justice, don’t know the specific authority granted to the executive branch, to be enforced by these very agencies.
The commercial only pretends to be aimed at federal employees. It’s really aimed at the Democrat base, to reinforce their precious “resistance” that they’re still fighting President Trump at every turn, and at well-meaning, patriotic, and gullible moderates and conservatives too, in the hope of using their decency and patriotism to make them take these malicious actions.
The commercial is a pack of lies, of course. But unlike many disingenuous political speeches and commentaries, this one is – at least on its face – an attempt by politicians to convince federal servicemen to disobey valid official orders.
Will this make the commercial an actionable vehicle to prosecute these six congressional and senatorial predators? Hard to say; it’s as much a political question as a legal one.
But this much is certain: the message was designed to plant the false idea in voters’ minds that the Trump administration is a rogue organization, despite the fact that it has behaved as the most scrupulously law-abiding administration in decades.
Senators Slotkin and Kelly, and Representatives DeLuzio, Goodlander, Houlahan and Crow should have kept something in mind: the gloves are off in Washington, DC. Since the Democratic Party has gone all in on the practice of lawfare, there’s just nothing to hold Republicans back anymore.
When a mafia don gives a hitman an order to kill, the don is guilty of murder too, just for giving the order.
When a crook suborns perjury, bribing a witness into giving false testimony, the crook is prosecuted for the perjury as well, since the suborning was an equally serious crime.
And by the same token, when six politicians misrepresent both the law and the facts, in a clearly documented attempt to convince federal law enforcement officers to violate their oaths and become accessories to federal crimes, well, it doesn’t take a law degree to know what’s going on here.
These six crooked politicians are at least as guilty of “insurrection” as any of the poor innocents persecuted for the events of January 6, 2021.
And there’s only one way to stop a growing risk of mutiny:
It’s time to start prosecuting both mutineers and the inciters to mutiny as well.
