CHICAGO – College Republicans at DePaul University are being accused of hate crime after the group chalked conservative comments on campus sidewalks.

Despite "chalking" being acceptable to university policy, the group is being criticized for praising conservative values, the nation of Israel, candidates in the GOP primary, and the Blue Lives Matter movement, Hypeline reports.

Nicole Been, president of DePaul's College Republicans and head of Students for Trump, said accusations being tossed around of "hate crimes" for supporting conservative values are symptomatic of other problems.

"We just wrote in support of all republican candidates and basic conservative values. If conservative/ republican values are hate crimes then we have a much bigger issue in this country than students using sidewalk chalk to voice their opinion,” she told Hypeline.

"You are not in the wrong as long as you are following the rules, people are hypocrites," she said. "Don’t back down, don’t let it get to you, and don’t let it silence you. You know you’re doing something right when the far left is speaking out against you.”

Been's friends are supporting her fierce speech freedom stand:

The administration was selective in how it removed the comments, as shown in Hypeline's exclusive photos.

  1. Campuses have always been a bastion of phony liberalism. But it really is getting much, much worse- even since I left it ten years ago.
The liberal fascists have taken over and and what is even more frightening is that the University Presidents back them.
If your universitydoes this make sure you make your complaint known and do not give any money. That is the only thing that will be heard.
